HI-Girdwood is a new hostel (opened July 2009) designed in an eco-friendly fashion utilizing water-efficient showers and toilets as well as energy efficient heating and lighting.

Separate male and female dorm rooms. One quad room with four bunks available for up to four friends traveling together. Private rooms with a double bed and upper bunk accommodate up to three people. The colorful rooms are uniquely and cheerfully painted by a local artist.

Train

The hostel is a short walk from the train station. Alaska Railroad offers daily service to Girdwood from Anchorage, Seward, Whittier or Portage until September 15, 2009. Bring your bike along on the train for an additional $20. 1-800-544-0552

Location

On Seward Highway at mile marker 90 look for the Tesoro gas station. Go through the gas station parking lot, and turn right on Gold Ave. Our beautiful red building is located at 365 Gold Ave in Old Girdwood just before the river.

Bus

Seward Bus Lines, Alaska Transportation Group, and Stage Line offer bus service from Anchorage and other nearby cities to Girdwood. Buses conveniently stop at Tesoro Station Mall, a short walk 5 blocks to the hostel.
