The Monterey Hostel is a great place to bring your group! Over 50 groups each year enjoy staying with us. We can accommodate groups up to 30 during the off-season. During the months of July and August, we are unable to host groups due to the overwhelming number of travelers who rely on the hostel as the only affordable place to stay in the region. The Monterey Hostel has a variety of room sizes to fit your needs. Our common areas are very spacious, with a large double kitchen and extra-large living room with plenty of seating, tables, sofas, piano, games, library, maps, and local information on display. We offer a daily do-it-yourself pancake and waffle breakfast, free wireless internet, and ample free parking. Outside we have a propane BBQ with plenty of tables and chairs. The living room can be used for group meetings between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.(advance notice required). The hostel is open throughout the day, so you can come and go as you please once you are registered. Located just 3 blocks from the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row, the hostel is within easy walking distance of beaches, the recreation trail, bicycle rental/repair, numerous restaurants and shopping, kayak rentals, scuba-diving shops, museums, parks, and nightlife. Our staff is experienced in handling groups and we enjoy sharing our local knowledge with you to help ensure you make the most out of your visit to the Monterey Bay area. 11. Membership

Hostelling International is a non-profit membership organization promoting international understanding and peace though hostelling since 1909. To maintain our ability to offer low-budget accommodations we charge additional fees to non-members.

However, a FREE Group Membership is available to US groups. A group membership entitles everyone in the group to member rates. You must be the group leader of an organized, US based group of 10 or more people in order to apply for a free group membership.
