Welcome!
A warm welcome to all Hostelling International volunteers.
Our volunteers form the foundation of the hostel's wide range of cultural and recreational programs. Volunteers contribute a tremendous amount of time and energy to the organization. In fact, without our team of dedicated volunteers, our activities and programs simply would not occur.
Volunteer participation improves the quality of the travel experience for our hostel guests, and helps open doors for international travelers into the local community. This cross cultural exchange brings greater meaning to the HI mission, and will travel with that person around the world: "to help all people, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling."
Whether a love of travel, knowledge of the San Diego community, an interest in meeting international travelers, or simple curiosity has brought you here- we hope that you will find the experience you are looking for at Hostelling International USA, San Diego Council.
We would love to have you as part of our team!
We appreciate your interest in Hostelling International USA, San Diego,
-Matt Carney

Been there, done that? You've seen the world and now you want to share it! The perfect way to do this is through volunteering at Hostelling International-USA. Click here for volunteer opportunities at our local hostels and councils.
Our philosophy about volunteers: "Volunteers are an essential part of the hostelling movement, playing a key role in sharing their own life experiences and passion for travel with hostellers locally and from around the world. HI-USA volunteers will be vital contributors to the future of hostelling by providing innovative ideas, resources, and serving as hostelling ambassadors in their local communities."
