Originally a Coast Guard station, Hostelling International Truro is the furthest hostel out on the "arm" of Cape Cod. Located in the Cape Cod National Seashore, the hostel is just a five-minute walk from the beach. Large picture windows provide a breathtaking view from the spacious kitchen and dining area. The hostel also provides quick access to fresh water ponds, bike paths, cranberry bogs, and nature trails throughout the National Seashore. Just ten miles down the road, a traveler can explore the great town of Provincetown. Provincetown is a mecca for artists. There are numerous art galleries and craft shops. To dine here is a gourmet's dream. And then there are all those quaint shops. If you are real hard to impress you ....

The hostel also provides quick access to fresh water ponds, bike paths, cranberry bogs, and nature trails throughout the National Seashore. Just ten miles down the road, a traveler can explore the great town of Provincetown. Provincetown is a mecca for artists. There are numerous art galleries and craft shops. To dine here is a gourmet's dream. And then there are all those quaint shops. If you are real hard to impress you can go whale watching with the best fleets in the world or just take a walk on the trails through the dunes and marshes.
Check in time is between 12 Noon and 10pm. You must be 18 years or older or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Note: If you are not already a member of Hostelling International, you may buy a temporary membership for $3/day at the hostel.
Please note that the maximum number of nights that you can stay is 14 nights in any calendar year.

Hostel Staff at HI - Truro
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, checking people in and out; using a cash register and handling cash and credit card transactions; setting up breakfast (no cooking); answering phones and replying to emails; processing reservations via phone, email, online reservation system, and in person; answering loads of questions about what to do, where and when; entering data in the computer using excel; sometimes helping with housekeeping and laundry; minor maintenance, like unplugging a toilet; welcoming groups; acting as social director....all while having fun!
Daily housekeeping tasks may include, but are not limited to: laundering lots of sheets and towels, making beds, washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen including the refrigerators, sweeping and/or vacuuming, mopping all bathroom and kitchen floors, emptying garbage in rooms, bathrooms and kitchen, dusting, washing windows, cleaning the bathrooms including sinks, showers and toilets everyday, and keeping all common areas looking neat.
Responsibilities
- Qualifications Must Have: ? High School degree and/or equivalent work experience in a hostel, is required. College coursework in business management or hospitality management preferred. ? Must be flexible regarding work schedule: must work evenings, early mornings, holidays and weekends. ? Hostel, retail and/or front desk experience which required cash handling and processing of credit card transactions. ? Computer skills (Windows OS, Microsoft Office and QuickBooks) ? Must be fully ambulatory as the position involves climbing stairs and/or walking on unpaved, rough ground. ? Must be able to lift weights up to 25 pounds ? Ability to work effectively without immediate supervision Desired: ? Property management system experience particularly if with ASSD. ? Hospitality, guest services and/or public relations experience. ? Additional experience in one or more of the following areas: cleaning, building, maintenance, bookkeeping, reservations, and/or supplies purchasing. ? Live-in work experience preferred. ? Knowledge of a second language.

Salary, Benefits, and Hours
Compensation based on experience, reduced cost housing is provided, flexible hours: full time (40 hours per week) and part time positions available.
Starts June 14, 2010 and ends September 10, 2010
