HI-Buffalo Niagara is a great base for visiting Niagara Falls, one of the top travel destinations in North America. As Rough Guide USA puts it, "Once you've seen Niagara Falls, from as many different angles as you can manage, there's no point in sticking around, and you'll have a better time heading on to Buffalo."
There is frequent city bus service from Buffalo to The Falls, return fare $3.50. With your passport (and visa if required), you may walk across the Rainbow Bridge to Canada.

THERE ARE TWO AMTRAK STATIONS IN BUFFALO!! Read on... from AMTRAK-EXCHANGE Station (open 7am-4:30pm) : Exit station and walk left to Main St, two short blocks. Turn left onto Main St. Take metro train from Erie Canal Harbor Station (no fee) to Theater Station. Hostel is located adjacent to Theater Station. Note: Metro train runs only 10am-6pm on Sundays. To walk to the hostel from Exchange Station, turn right onto Main St and walk 20-25 minutes to 667 Main St. TAXI fare from Exchange station will be about $6. .....from AMTRAK-DEPEW (open 24 hrs): Every 6C, 6D, 6F bus will pull into Amtrak-Depew station. The #6 bus runs from 6:13am-11:35pm Monday-Friday, 7:31am-11:33pm Saturday, and infrequently on Sunday. The fare is $2.05. See the full schedule for the #6 bus at nfta.com. Take the #6 bus to downtown; get off at the corner of Ellicott St & E. Huron St. Walk towards the gold-domed building. Turn right onto Main St. Walk two blocks to 667 Main St. TAXI fare from Amtrak-Depew to the hostel is about $30-35.

Parking

Inexpensive metered street parking on Washington St, immediately behind the hostel. Nearby is paid parking garage.

Location

For drivers, use the rear address of the building, 664 Washington St, as your destination. Hostel is located on pedestrian mall.

Bus

Exit bus station (open 24 hours) onto North Division St; walk to the right to Main St, two short blocks. Turn right onto Main Street. Take metro train from Church Station (no fee) to Theater Station. Or you may walk along Main Street to the hostel (10-15 minutes). Hostel is located adjacent to Theater Station. Note: Metro train runs only 10am-6pm on Sundays. Airport

from BUFFALO NIAGARA AIRPORT (open 24 hours): !! For those who can, take the #204 airport express. It runs Monday-Friday, 6:22am-5:04pm. The #204 drops off at N. Division & Ellicott. From there to the hostel, follow the bus station directions. See the full schedule for the #204 bus at nfta.com. Fare is $2.05. The #24 runs from 5:41am-11:40pm Monday-Friday, 6:57am-11:39pm Saturday, and 6:36am- 11:38pm Sunday. The fare is $2.05. See the full schedule for the #24 bus at nfta.com. Take the #24 bus to downtown; get off at the corner of Chippewa St and Ellicott St. Walk two short blocks to Main St. turn right onto Main St. Walk one block to 667 Main St. If you see a #30 bus, you can take that to the hostel. This can be a great option for guests arriving in the evening or on Saturday afternoon. Fare is $1.75. ASK THE DRIVER FOR A TRANSFER. Take the #30 to University Rail Station. Go underground to take the next metro train headed downtown (Erie Canal Harbor). Show conductor your transfer if asked. Get off the train at Theater station. Cross Main St; walk toward the outbound Theater metro station. You’ll see the hostel at 667 Main St. The ITA shuttle runs from the airport to downtown on the top of the hour from 7am to 10pm daily. The charge is $15 per person. The shuttle leaves from the cab kiosk on the lower (arrivals) level and will take you to the Comfort Suites Hotel, located at 601 Main St. Walk toward the Market Arcade Cinema. The hostel is at 667 Main St. Taxi fare from the airport is about $30. Hostellers may be able to share taxi fare with other travelers headed downtown.
