HI - Syracuse - Downing International Hostel in Syracuse, NYPrint
HI-Downing is a great base from which to explore central New York State. Built in 1895, it features stained-glass windows and an ornate staircase. The hostel is centrally located to the Finger Lakes, Lake Ontario, and the New ork State Fair. Explore Syracuse's history at the Onondaga Historical Association, Erie Canal and Salt Museums, or St. Marie Among the Iroquois. Visit our zoo, see a baseball game or the gorgoeus Fall foliage. Downhill, cross-country skiing and skating are availale nearby in the winter.

Location
1-1/2 miles northeast of downtown. From Clinton Square (Salina Street and Erie Boulevard) take James Street (New York Rt. 290) 10 blocks to Oak Street, left on Oak 1 block to Highland Avenue, hostel is on left at corner. From I-690 take exit #14 (Teall Avenue), go north 3/4 mile to James Street (New York Rt. 290), turn left and go 1 mile to Oak, turn right and go 1 block to hostel.

Regional Transportation Center, 2 miles. Turn right on P&C Pkwy, I block turn right on Pork St. 2 Miles to Oak St., turn right, 3 blocks to hostel.

Syracuse Hancock International (SYR), 5 miles. Take I-81 south to Salina St exit. Turn right 3 blocks to James St., turn left on James. 10 Blocks to Oak St., turn left - one block to hostel
