Texas' capital city, Austin, is known for its environmentally-friendly ways and often eclectic traditions. Known as the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin has more music venues per capita than any other U.S. city, and is home to several annual music festivals, including the Austin Reggae Festival in April and the famous springtime film, music, and interactive festival known as South by Southwest. Austin is also known for its local art – the artsy South Congress district sponsors First Thursday events, when shops stay open late, artists sell their work and musicians play on the streets the first Thursday of every month.
