Event to raise money for community break dancing program

On Friday, May 11, 6-10:00 p.m., HI-Madison will host an art show and potluck in partnership with GESWERK to raise money for East Madison Community Center’s break dancing program.  Admission is a suggested $5 donation, and the community is invited to attend.

More than 10 artists will feature their work throughout the Victorian-style hostel, accompanied by music from live performers.  Celebrating creativity and the spirit of community, the proceeds of this event will help ensure healthy environment for self expression is accessible to local boys and girls.

GESWERK is a constructive program that celebrates community building through collaborative creativity.  GESWERK is short for: gesamtkunstwerk [guh-zahmt-koonst-verk], which means “total art” in German. http://www.geswerk.org

The East Madison Community Center's break dancing program provides a creative outlet for youth and young adults to practice their art of dance.  Seeing 40-70 people twice a week, the program is a place where B-boys and -girls can come together in a setting that builds community.  http://www.eastmadisoncc.org/about_us.html
