HI Portland Hawthorne is so green, Kermit the Frog would be jealous. From plants on the roof to toilets fueled by rainwater to a bike service station, this hostel infuses sustainability into its core. So it should come as no surprise that they have big plans for the sustainability trifecta: Earth Hour, Earth Day, and World Environment Day.
Earth Hour, March 25
As a precursor to the designated lights-out hour celebrated around the world, HI Portland Hawthorne is rounding up guests and the community for The Dinner Party. Attendees will get to know one another, while also learning about climate change. Come enjoy food, games, and new friends!
Earth Day, April 22
Give back with guests and the community through a tour and cleanup of sustainable stormwater solutions surrounding the hostel. This hands-on service project will be followed by snacks, drinks, and dessert from Portland’s very own certified sustainable service providers. Find out more here.
World Environment Day, June 5
Held the Saturday before this international day, The Global Goals Fair raises awareness to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and local efforts to achieve them. This free event attracts a wide audience from around Portland and features local food and drink tastings, booths, and prizes. Get the details here.
