Venture Richmond and the National Council for the Traditional Arts will be hosting the 12th Annual Richmond Folk Festival the weekend of October 7-9. This free, three day event will take place on and around Brown’s Island, just a few blocks from HI Richmond!
Last year, the fest saw a record 200,000 attendees and 1,300 volunteers, making it the most popular traditional arts festival in the United States.
The 2016 festival lineup will feature over thirty performers and artists specializing in traditional music, dances, and artistry from all corners of the world. Along with performances, visitors to this years festival can expect a plethora of vendors selling food and handcrafted goods. There will be attractions including film screenings, an area dedicated solely to music and foods quintessential to Virginia, as well as children’s crafts and activities. In celebration of Rosh Hashanah (October 2-4) the festival will be hosting a special communal Tashlikh ceremony along the edge of the James River.
