Join HI Madison on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5 for a unique letterboxing event in celebration of World Environment Day and in honor of former Wisconsin Governor and environmental activist, Gaylord Nelson. This interactive weekend event series will introduce you to the international treasure hunt hobby of letterboxing. During the Saturday intro class, led by a HI Madison employee and local letterbox enthusiast, you will learn the basics of this hobby that combines, travel, collecting, and art. The class will cover the history of letterboxing, community etiquette, and resources, and be followed by a lunch at the hostel.
On Sunday, participants will head to Governor Nelson State Park to create their own trail supplies and hunt for a letterbox that was planted in the park nearly 7 years ago, in honor of Governor Nelson. It will be Free Fun Weekend at Nelson State Park so vehicle admission sticker fees and trail fees on state-operated designated state trails will be waived.
We hope you will join us for this unique weekend workshop!
