About HI Wellspring Hostel
Out of an abundance of care, we are temporarily closing HI Wellspring hostel. We are joining the worldwide effort to stop the spread of coronavirus and protecting our guests, staff and volunteers. Just a 35-minute drive from downtown Milwaukee, HI Wellspring is an organic farm, retreat and conference center, located along the beautiful Milwaukee River. Organic Farm: Enjoy fresh produce from our organic farm during warm months, take a gardening class or volunteer in our veggie or flower gardens
Outdoor Activities: In addition to strolling along our garden paths, forest trails and labyrinth, there’s good canoeing right from our property in the spring, and Lake Michigan’s beaches are just 10 miles away. The Kettle Moraine State Forest is located 20 minutes away. Hike the kettles (bowl-shaped depressions), eskers (snake-like ridges), drumlins (elongated rounded hills), and other unique glacier landforms. In the winter enjoy the snow shoeing and cross country skiing trails in the area or the down hill slopes at the Sunburst Ski Area, just a few miles away. Wellspring is also 5 miles from the 25 mile long Eisenbahn State Bike Trail and 10 miles from the 30 mile paved Interurban Bike Trail. Stop by the Horicon Marsh Wildlife Refuge, Cedarburg Bog, or Riveredge Nature Center, located right in the Village of Newburg.
Local Attractions: There is plenty in the area in terms of local shopping, dining and entertainment. Stop by Cedarburg for quaint shops and antique shopping. Visit West Bend’s parks or stop by the summer farmers’ market or free outdoor concerts. Some of the best music, food and festivals in the country are located just 35 minutes away in Milwaukee! —- Experience another side of the Midwest with a visit to Chicago, the big city offers a change of scenery and a chance to indulge in some fine food, arts and culture.
