United for Sustainable Action

Are you passionate about exploring new places, sustainability, and responsible travel? Then join like-minded German and American travelers this summer 2019 on a two-week tour of Germany and the USA!

Be part of a cross-cultural group that explores off-the-beaten-path destinations and two of the most exciting and creative cities in the world: Berlin and New York City. See iconic sites like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and the harbor and canals of the Speicherstad in Germany, and Central Park, Times Square, the United Nations headquarters in New York!

When you aren’t sightseeing and making new connections, you’ll be exposed to innovative solutions to real-world challenges that can expand your mind. Enrichment opportunities are centered around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs. The goals span a range of issues, from economics and innovation, to sustainable communities and climate change. In both countries, you’ll visit local non-governmental organizations (NGOs), learn about their sustainability efforts, and engage in volunteer activities. Some of the big questions you’ll explore during this tour:

  • What do the SDGs look like in practice?
  • What does it mean to move the world in a sustainable direction?
  • What academic and career opportunities exist in this area?

With more than 100 years of experience engaging students and young professionals in life-changing cultural exchange programs, program hosts HI USA, the German Youth Hostel Association, and InterExchange are your ideal guides for personal growth and adventure.
