Program Description

The Discover Your World Program teaches environmental education and conservation strategies to students in the greater Los Angeles area. Students are given the opportunity to experience and observe the natural world as part of their science education. Even though many of the students who participate in the program live within 10 miles of the coast, for many of them it is their first visit to the ocean. The program meets California Education Content Standards and should be considered a curricular journey.

Programs take place between October and May each year at the Hostelling International (HI) Los Angeles South Bay hostel in San Pedro. This facility provides a relaxed, friendly, and clean environment with stunning views near the Korean Friendship Bell.
