Change of plans?

If you’ve got questions about changing or canceling an upcoming reservation with us, your next steps will depend on where you booked and what kind of rate you selected. Please take a look at the confirmation e-mail you received when you booked to see which of these policies applies to you.

If you’re an individual traveler who booked a “best flexible rate” on hiusa.org 

Cancel or change your reservation for free up until 24 hours before your scheduled arrival date by contacting the hostel directly. 

If you’re an individual traveler who booked a “best rate” or “non-refundable rate” on hiusa.org 

The terms and conditions of your original booking still apply, unless you’re: 

  • booked at a hostel that won’t be re-opened by the time you’re scheduled to arrive (we’ll cancel your booking automatically and e-mail you about a refund or credit for a future stay), or 
  • coming from a travel-restricted country outside the U.S. (please contact the hostel directly at least 24 hours before your scheduled check-in date)

If you booked through a third-party OTA, such as Booking.com or Hostelworld.com 

These services have their own terms and conditions, so you’ll need to work with that company directly for any cancelations or changes.  

If you have a group reservation 

If you’re a group organizer and wish to make changes to your group booking, please contact your HI USA Group Sales Manager directly or e-mail sales@hiusa.org to discuss your options.
