Frequently Asked Questions
Hostels can offer groups many advantages over hotels or private home rentals. From flexible room options to in-house amenities like guest kitchens and lounges, HI USA hostels give your group much more than just a place to sleep. We break it all down so you can decide for yourself over on our flexible group accommodations page.
Yes! HI USA hostels host dozens of school groups every year. Parents, teachers, school administrators, and students themselves especially appreciate that each student gets their own individual bed, leading to better sleep for students, easier room assignments and overnight supervision for chaperones, and less stress for trip planners.
In general, 10 or more people traveling together are considered a “group.” If you have a smaller group and would like to book exclusive use of one or more dorm rooms, please contact the group sales manager at your hostel of interest.
No. Our hostels are only able to take online reservations for individual travelers. Any online rates you may find are for individual beds, and are not meant for groups of 8 or more people. In addition, online reservations do not guarantee your group members will have exclusive use of their dorm rooms, or even that they will all be placed in the same dorm.
It is better that you do not attempt to book or pay for a group reservation online. Instead, you should contact the group sales manager at your hostel of interest to help determine your requirements. This will help ensure that your group’s stay is as comfortable and stress-free as possible. We will send you a reply with options and answers to your questions.
