Whether you're traveling with a school or university group, a sports team, a retreat group, a group of friends or family, or any other type of group, HI USA hostels are the perfect base for your trip. At our locations in major cities, coastal towns, and even national and state parks, we bring together travelers from across the country and around the world.
HI USA offers more than 50 hostel locations across the country to meet the needs of every group. Our affordable accommodations are located in urban city centers, converted mansions, reinvented lighthouses, and historic buildings reclaimed in the spirit of discovery and community.
We speak different languages, but we’re all in this together. HI USA places great emphasis on experiential learning, cultural exchange, and environmental stewardship, and group participants will be motivated by their surroundings at the hostel to consider their role in intercultural understanding and tolerance. Ultimately, our mission is to promote a community of global citizens who have the wisdom and humanity to make the world a better place.
HI USA hostels feature dormitory accommodations to fit groups of any size, with a single bed for every guest and private rooms for group leaders in most locations.
Private room options for group leaders
While some group leaders want to stay in the same room as their group members, we know that sometimes having your own space to recharge is important. At most of our large city properties, we can arrange for group leaders to stay in private rooms, some with en suite bathrooms. That way, you can have your own space but you’ll still be just down the hall from the rest of your group.
Common spaces to connect with travelers
HI USA hostels offer a rich setting for cultural exchange and experiential learning aimed at building tolerance. Shared kitchens, dining rooms, and lounges ensure plenty of opportunities to connect with other young travelers from all over the world. Students will meet people from other cultures, and through conversation can build relationships that will deepen their understanding of the world beyond their own experience, or from what they’ve read in the media.
Fully equipped guest kitchens
If your group is traveling on a budget or is just looking for a fun bonding activity, you’re welcome to use our shared guest kitchens for making and enjoying meals together. Most HI USA hostels offer ample space for you to store and prepare your food, as well as dining areas where you can sit down together and meet other travelers over a meal.
Engage in cultural themed events
HI USA hostels foster a deeper understanding of people, places, and the world. Groups are encouraged to participate in our unique hostel events and cultural programs designed to bring people together and provide a local perspective of the destination.
