How to get to the hostel, our pet policy, how to have packages delivered, and more information you may need before you arrive.

We are happy to receive your package, however please be aware that we cannot accept packages unless the guest is already checked in (in house). If you are expecting something important such as a passport or credit card, please reach out to the Front Desk directly to inform them.

Please be sure to include your name on the package and send it to:

YOUR NAME c/o HI Boston Hostel

Please allow plenty of time for delivery, as we cannot receive packages for guests who have already checked out.

Bunk beds are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact us in advance by emailing [email protected] if you have a strong preference for a top/lower bunk and we will do our best to accommodate you; however, please note that requests cannot be guaranteed.

Public transportation via the Silver Line (SL1 bus) is the most affordable way to get to the hostel from Logan Airport. The Silver Line is available between 5:30 a.m. and 12:15 a.m. and takes about 30 minutes, including a 10-minute walk to the hostel at the end.

  • Take the Silver Line One (SL1) bus from the airport.
  • Get off at South Station
  • Walk up Essex St.
  • Turn left on Washington St.
  • Turn right on Stuart St.; the hostel will be on your right.

The SL1 is free from the airport, but costs $2.40 going to the airport.

Between the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m., guests can take an Uber, Lyft, or a taxi from the airport.

Pets are not permitted at any HI USA hostels. We do permit service animals as identified by ADA guidelines. At all times, service animals must be under the owner’s control and never left alone.

We partner with the 40 Beach St. Garage to offer a discounted overnight rate ($24 for 24 hours) with validation at the hostel front desk.

While You're at the Hostel

Answers to all your questions about on-site laundry, bathroom amenities, quiet hours, and more.

Quiet hours are from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Please move conversations to the public areas on the 1st and 2nd floor during quiet hours.

There are no curfew or lock-out hours at the hostel. The hostel entrance is secured at night and is accessible with your guest keycard.

Guests can do their laundry in our guest laundry room. Washers and dryers each cost $3.50 per load. Laundry detergent is available to purchase at the front desk for $1.50.

Please speak to someone at the Front Desk in person. We are pleased to match any publicly advertised online rate* for additional nights booked directly through us. While we strive to keep you in the same room/bed, this is based on availability at the time of your request. The sooner you can let us know you’d like to extend, the better. Please let us know no later than check-out time (in most cases, 11 a.m.) on the day of your scheduled check out.

*Offer applies only to newly added room nights and cannot be applied to existing reservations.

Minors traveling with a parent or legal guardian are welcome at all HI USA hostels. While we encourage guardians traveling with children to book private rooms for their comfort, we do allow minors in dorm rooms.

For safety reasons, children over 2 years old must have their own bunk bed in dorm rooms, and children under 7 may not sleep in top bunks. Emancipated minors traveling on their own, or other minors traveling alone with parental or guardian consent, should contact the hostel directly for more information on policies and booking instructions.
