Before You Arrive

How to get to the hostel, our pet policy, how to have packages delivered, and more information you may need before you arrive.

You may send a maximum of 3 small packages to the hostel up to one week in advance of your arrival.

Bunk beds are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact us in advance by emailing [email protected] if you have a strong preference for a top/lower bunk and we will do our best to accommodate you; however, please note that requests cannot be guaranteed.

Uber/Lyft:

This is the fastest option. Price to/from the MSY New Orleans airport could cost anywhere from $25.00 – $80.00 one way depending on the time of day and day of week. It generally takes 30-40 minutes to get to the hostel from MSY. Please allow yourself an hour of travel time during rush hour time slots (7 a.m. – 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.)

Bus :

New Orleans RTA Bus 202 has a Drop-off/Pick-up location at Loyola and Perdido, only a 5-minute walk from HI New Orleans. Please give yourself 40 minutes to get to your destination.

To the airport, the bus operates from 4:10am – 8:45pm seven days a week. From the airport, the bus operates from 4:50am – 9:25pm seven days a week. Fare cost is $1.25 one-way.

For more information, please visit https://www.norta.com. You can also download the RTA’s app, Le Pass, from either the Apple Store or Google Play for the schedule and to purchase rides. We also have the full schedule for that route posted at the front desk.

Taxicabs:

Taxicabs are a flat rate of $36 for 1-2 people or $13/person for parties of 3-5. There is a cab stand right outside of baggage claim at MSY airport, and we can order taxi for you at any time from the hostel front desk. All taxis are required to take either cash or credit cards as payment for the ride. This can be a more affordable option if Uber or Lyft are surging above $40.

Please keep in mind, none of these services are a partner organization and are not run by or affiliated with HI New Orleans Hostel.

Pets are not permitted at any HI USA hostels. We do permit service animals as identified by ADA guidelines. At all times, service animals must be under the owner’s control and never left alone.
