HI Los Angeles Santa Monica hostel is located in west Los Angeles along the Pacific coast, near the beaches of Santa Monica, Malibu, and Venice. Popular attractions in Santa Monica include the Third Street Promenade, a three-block-long upscale shopping destination. In this pedestrian-only area, shoppers are welcome to stroll among the stores and watch the street performers.
To the southeast of Santa Monica is the Los Angeles South Bay hostel, located in San Pedro in the quiet Angels Gate Park on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. San Pedro is home to the Los Angeles Maritime Museum, the largest maritime museum in the state. The Point Fermin Lighthouse, built in 1874, is open for tours and is a great place to snap pictures of the Pacific and its coast. Another San Pedro highlight is the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. Free to the public, the aquarium focuses on the conservation of Southern California marine life. The tide pool touch tank allows visitors to touch live animals, including sea stars and sea anemones.
North of San Pedro is the Los Angeles Fullerton hostel, located in north Orange County. Downtown Fullerton offers an excellent nighttime live music scene, while the Fullerton Arboretum is a prime daytime activity. The arboretum contains 26 acres of rare plants from around the world, sectioned into four areas: cultivated, Mediterranean, woodlands, and desert. The hostel is located just a few miles away from Anaheim, the home of Disneyland. Opened in 1955, the family theme park features 57 attractions, including Main Street U.S.A., Adventureland, New Orleans Square, Mickey’s Toontown, and many others.

The J. Paul Getty Museum collection includes European paintings, drawings, sculpture, illuminated manuscripts, decorative arts, and European and American photographs.
The Brea Tar Pits contain the world’s richest deposit of Ice Age fossils.
The famous Santa Monica Pier features restaurants and souvenir stands, an amusement park with a roller coaster, Ferris wheel, carousel, and arcade, not to mention one of the best sunset views in Los Angeles.
The California Science Center is a great place to learn about the wonders of science through interactive exhibits and demonstrations.
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has been devoted to collecting works of art that span both history and geography‚ and represents Los Angeles’ uniquely diverse population. The museum features collections of Asian, Latin American, European, and American art—more than 100,000 works in all—as well as a contemporary museum on its campus, BCAM. On the second Tuesday of every month, the museum offers free admission.
July: Bastille Day
There’s no better way to celebrate French independence than to indulge in Gallic food and wine in honor of Bastille Day! Enjoy street performers and Tahitian dancers, shop from French Market vendors, and cheer on the contestants in the Parisian waiters’ race.
August: Surf Festival
Come watch the competition as lifeguards from Australia compete with Americans in surfing, volleyball, swimming and running events, at Manhattan, Redondo and Hermosa Beaches in South Bay.
The Long Beach Jazz Festival is a great place to groove to the sounds of jazz greats like Michael Franks, Kirk Whalum, Ron Ayers and Poncho Sanchez, and legendary acts such as The Commodores and The Whispers.
September-October: The LA County Fair features carnival rides, contests, livestock exhibitions, agriculture displays, and horse racing. not to mention people-watching, and a variety of live concert acts.
